Belfast couple Colin and Grace Ramsey want a quiet holiday in the countryside away from their family. Unfortunately for them, their idyllic country retreat is the “converted” farm building of farmer Angus Calvin Knox, a Ballymena man who is extremely careful with money.

His daughter Mary Rose is somewhat “agricultural” and has an eye for farmhand Donald McDonald. His eyes, however, are set on the hills when she comes running after him!

Not only do Colin and Grace have to deal with the Knox parsimony and Mary Rose’s hopeless love life, their peaceful holiday seems destined to be disturbed by visitors (and not just the mice nesting in the scullery!)

This is one of Sam Cree’s classic comedies, featuring family tensions, witty humour, physical comedy and twists and turns that have made his plays perennial favourites with Ulster audiences.
